Tragedy has struck the Canadian cycling community as pro cyclist Ellen Watters has died from her injuries after being struck by a car on a training ride Dec 23rd. Ellen had a great season this past year with The Cyclery OPUS Racing team having won the Tour of Battenkill and Tour of Somerville. These performances ledellen-watters to her signing with the American pro team Colavita-Bianchi for the 2017 season. A community with approximately two degrees of separation, this tragedy effects us all.

A GoFundMe account has been setup here for an opportunity to support Ellen’s family through this difficult time. I encourage you to make a contribution, large or small. We have all had our close calls with other vehicles on the road and hope that others would be generous should tragedy befall us or those we love.

Cycling Canada’s tribute to Ellen.
